Thanks to Screwpull's innovation, champagne-lovers can get all the thrill of the traditional -Inchpop-Inch without the danger or inconvenience of a flying cork. The Cork Catcher fits over the neck of a champagne bottle and traps the cork at it rockets out of the bottle. This is a safe alternative to the old-fashioned method of thumbing the cork out of the bottle while aiming away from guests. Plus, it's a fun little party trick. Ideal for indoor bartending and crowded celebrations, the Cork Catcher also cuts down on overflowing champagne. Easy to store in its original container, the piece should be washed by hand for best results. --Emily Bedard

The Star was given to us by a friend with arthritis in her hands. It is simple and works great. When ours was lost I bought another--no hesitation.

 "Weak wrists-no problem" 2004-10-05
By Lynn A. Strahm
I have this item and I love it. I have weak wrists and normally can't get a champagne bottle opened. With this item, opening the bottle is a breeze. My family and friends who love champagne are often a receiver of this item.

Cooking Pleasures Bunny Wine Plunge Puller Set

A great gift for wine lovers, this powerful, award-winning tool effortlessly extracts the cork from any wine bottle with simple lever action.
Gripping handles clamp on the bottle neck; pushing down the lever drives the tough corkscrew into the cork, and raising the lever pulls the cork out cleanly.

Releasing the cork from the screw involves the same action, only with the gripping handles clamped on the cork.

For strength and longevity this model is ruggedly constructed of die-cast metal and reinforced nylon, giving it the heft of a fine, precise high-tech tool.

The device owes its name to handles and levers resembling rabbit ears, and gear housing shaped like the head of a bunny. Cooking Pleasres corkscrews are independently tested for 20,000 cork pulls; tests assume replacement of the spiral after 1,000 pulls.

Accompanying the cork puller is a foilcutter that strips away the foil covering a cork.

Both the cork puller and foilcutter fit into a handsome storage case with a hinged lid.

The cork puller carries a 10-year warranty against failure.

Features:

Strikingly-designed, easy-to-use, powerful wine-cork puller

Ruggedly constructed of die-cast metal and reinforced nylon

Independently tested for 20,000 cork pulls

Foilcutter and hinge-top storage case included

"Worth the money to improve wine's longevity" 2009-02-19
By Boston Book Addict (Boston, Mass.)
I'm a single woman so it often takes me a long time to finish off a bottle of wine. Because of this I found myself hesitant to open any nice bottles for fear that I wouldn't be able to finish them before they went bad. This gadget has been the perfect solution for me. The stoppers have fit perfectly in all the bottles I have tried thus far and do a great job of improving wine longevity. They add a good couple (and sometimes I can push the bottle further) days of freshness to my wine and give it more longevity than the stoppers I have tried that do not use a pump. The pump is also very easy to use. It doesn't require a lot of strength and it is clear from giving the stopper a gentle tug that the seal is holding. The simplicity and speed of use is what makes this gadget invaluable because it means that I use it every time I open a bottle of wine. Having limited kitchen space I also appreciate how small this gadget is because I can slip it right into my cutlery drawer and have it on hand when I need it.

Overall this gadget is a bit pricey but if you find it takes you time to get through a bottle of wine it is well worth the money in that you will waste far less wine. Highly recommended.

"Keeps wine fresh for over a week." 2008-11-27
By kiwanissandy (Heart of Ohio)
I know it's a little pricey but this wine pump works really well. We've had it since summer and I've used it frequently over the last 6 months. It reseals the bottle with just a few pump of the plunger and then keeps it fresh for over a week. The less you unseal the bottle over that week the fresher the wine will remain. It comes with 3 rubber stoppers. It's a very useful set and one a wine drinker would certainly enjoy as a gift.

 "wonderful wine saver" 2008-07-23
By Daniel A. Perrett (Pennsylvania)
My daughter presented this to me for father's day, and I must say that it really allows you to open a litre bottle and enjoy one's healthy, daily glass of vino. The wine stays fresh far longer than any other wine stopper I have ever used. This is a must for wine drinkers!

 "Works Great!" 2008-12-01
By Boston Reviewer
This stopper is exactly what is needed to seal opened champagne bottles. This product is more sturdy than other similiar products I've seen and makes for a nice "quality" gift for your favorite champagne-drinker. The fit is tight and it kept the bubbly bubbly until the last drop was poured.

 "What a gem" 2007-12-07
By M. Mitchel (menlo park, ca USA)
I have owned this product for many years. It is truly the best. The fabulous aesthetics aside, it is a pleasure to use and most importantly, will keep the bead from fading better than all of the other sealers I have tried.

The weight and feel of it is lovely in the hand.

 "Screwpull Revolutionary Lever Pull" 2009-06-10
By L. Garrett (Los Angeles, CA)
This is by far the best corkscrew I've owned. Other reviews of the same model mention problems if the cork is not removed, but I've not encountered these problems yet, so I give it the full five stars.

The first thing that appeals to me is the beauty of the item. It is like a sculpture. Believe it or not, I love having it just for the pleasure of looking at it when I use it. It even makes me smile when I'm looking for something else and happen upon it by chance.

Second, it has the easiest-to-use action of any corkscrew I've had. I suspect that is because of the length of the lever which probably provides the best leverage avaiable. Its operation is smooth as silk, as is the ejecting action. Also, the manner of placing it on the bottle and squeezing is, in my opinion, easier and more natural than the older "double-wing" method.

If you don't mind spending the money, I recommend this corkscrew without reservation. It is as lovely to use as it is to look at.
