Thanks to Screwpull's innovation, champagne-lovers can get all the thrill of the traditional -Inchpop-Inch without the danger or inconvenience of a flying cork. The Cork Catcher fits over the neck of a champagne bottle and traps the cork at it rockets out of the bottle. This is a safe alternative to the old-fashioned method of thumbing the cork out of the bottle while aiming away from guests. Plus, it's a fun little party trick. Ideal for indoor bartending and crowded celebrations, the Cork Catcher also cuts down on overflowing champagne. Easy to store in its original container, the piece should be washed by hand for best results. --Emily Bedard

 "Great product!" 2009-01-18
By M. Kaufman (Cary, NC)
We had been looking for the champagne "star" for awhile and are so happy with this purchase. It is sturdy, heavy, feels great to use and it works great!

If you drink champagne or other sparkling wines, this is a must. Guaranteed to work on those stubborn corks!

 "Better than bottle pliers" 2005-01-18
By S. B. Nelson (Alexandria, VA)
The Star was given to us by a friend with arthritis in her hands. It is simple and works great. When ours was lost I bought another--no hesitation.

 "Weak wrists-no problem" 2004-10-05
By Lynn A. Strahm
I have this item and I love it. I have weak wrists and normally can't get a champagne bottle opened. With this item, opening the bottle is a breeze. My family and friends who love champagne are often a receiver of this item.

 "Useful tool!" 2003-04-09
By E. Blackwell (Birmingham, Al)
I have had one of these "Screwpull" tools for years. I was getting new ones for friends that liked how easy Champagne was to open when you used this tool. You have control without losing any of the champagne.

 "Works Great!" 2008-12-01
By Boston Reviewer
This stopper is exactly what is needed to seal opened champagne bottles. This product is more sturdy than other similiar products I've seen and makes for a nice "quality" gift for your favorite champagne-drinker. The fit is tight and it kept the bubbly bubbly until the last drop was poured.

 "What a gem" 2007-12-07
By M. Mitchel (menlo park, ca USA)
I have owned this product for many years. It is truly the best. The fabulous aesthetics aside, it is a pleasure to use and most importantly, will keep the bead from fading better than all of the other sealers I have tried.

The weight and feel of it is lovely in the hand.

"Love the product, but a box to put it in would be nice" 2009-08-31
By K. Stokes (new york city)
I bought one of these for myself, and think it's great - it's easy to use, you get a very satisfying "pop", no spills, and no more apologies for damaging the neighbour's greenhouse/car/cat. And it makes a wonderful gift. Except... no box, and when I ordered via Amazon it couldn't even be gift-wrapped (admittedly, this was the UK Amazon site, if it's different here, apologies - update the product description, and I'll re-rate it as 5 stars!).

Now, I don't normally write reviews. In fact, this is my first. And I do it with caring and love, because, if the manufacturers would just please put this ridiculously-shaped but rather fabulous product in a gift-wrappable box (check the competition - other champagne openers are in boxes), I would buy them as gifts for everyone I know. Including kids and family pets.

 "Cool Cork Catcher" 2008-02-10
By Stephen Hutchinson (Glendale, CA United States)
I purchased this item on a whim because it looked like it would be fun to use, and after receiving it, I immediately tried it out. It failed to work on the first bottle, but has worked quite well on all subsequent ones. All I can assume is that the first bottle had a smaller cork than the others.

It is very easy to use, removes the cork with a few twists, and makes the cork pop out without any collateral damage. The champagne doesn't foam out of the bottle after the cork is released either. So if you like to have the cork pop out of your champagne bottles, but don't want any damage or harm caused by flying corks, such as dented walls or ceilings, broken dishes, etc. this is the tool for you.

I only gave it four stars because of the failure to remove the smaller cork, so it may not work with all bottles. But I've found it to be much more enjoyable and easier to use than other methods.

 "Excellent product" 2007-10-24
By Gatto (UK)
Purchased this product as a present several times. It is great as it pops and no need to worry about catching the cork.
