Just as there's nothing better than a bottle of wine at the beach, cabin, or campground; there’s nothing worse than being stuck without a corkscrew. The table corkscrew from Screwpull is not only compact and lightweight; it's a sophisticated tool friends will covet. Not only does this clever corkscrew take the work out of cork removal for effortless bottle opening, it now automatically twists the cork off the screw as well. To open, simply pull the handle and the durable Teflon screw drives precisely into the cork's center. Push lightly the other way and the cork climbs effortlessly out of the bottle. Then, while holding the corkscrew panels (and not the cork); pull the handle again and--voila, the device pushes the cork off the screw unscathed! Pinch down on the sides to keep the cork from falling off, and reinsert it with the same ease. Finally, fold up the corkscrew and pack it away.

After much trial and error with a variety of corkscrews, including one of those bulky things with the long, metal handles, I received this as a gift. At first glance you wouldn't think it is a huge deal because of its small size and plastic parts. One does well to remember looks aren't everything.
I tried it out on the wine bottle accompanying the gift and, much to my happiness, it worked perfectly! You don't have to struggle with, coax, or curse the bottle -- instead you just screw it down until the cork is neatly pulled out without hardly any effort. With this corkscrew, I can look like I know what I'm doing.
The nifty trick with this corkscrew seems to be how it braces itself against the entire lip of the bottle on both sides -- unlike using just one side as a brace like the more common lever-type corkscrew. This helps you pull out the cork -- rather the real or newer spongy type -- evenly without struggle or mess.
This spiffy little gadget is great to have in any wine lover's home. Your wine-loving friends will rave about it.

I don't normally write reviews, but I was surprised to see that this item only had a one-star review (based on a single reviewer with arthritis). While it may not work if you have arthritis, many wine lovers consider this the best corkscrew available. I know people that own multiple ScrewPulls and give them as gifts. I am just about to buy my 4th ScrewPull. It's much easier to use than most other cork screws (unless, apparently, you have arthritis) because you use the same simple motion to "start" the corkscrew as you do to pull out the cork....you just keep turning the handle. Very simple!

I could not get it going. I called their customer service line and was told to sqeeze it hard and then turn. Well, I bought these two screwpulls because I have arthritis and I had read it was easy for people with arthritis. Not for me. I can't do it.
