"Works well, hasn't fallen apart" 2009-09-27
By THATCH (OHIO)
This is very easy to use. I've owned very similar designs from other manufacturers and they've broken or fallen apart without much work. This type of opener really takes away the "wrenching" necessary to get the cork out of the bottle. It makes the process far more controlled, manageable and less arm and shoulder action is taking place so you're far less likely to drop the bottle, hit it on something or hurt yourself. Definitely recommended.

"Best corkscrew I've ever owned!" 2009-09-17
By ciocio3 (New York City)
I was reading through all of the other reviews and must say that I'm surprised at all the negative ones. First, I want to say that once I figured out how to use it, it has turned out to be the best corkscrew I've ever owned - and I've owned the cheap ones, the expensive ones, the fancy ones, all kinds of ones. Second, I want to address some of the negative reviews. The corkscrew does seem to be not as well balanced as it could be, so rather than leave it out or using the holder, I keep it in the same box it came in. The box has a form nest for the corkscrew so it rests snugly. Perhaps some of the negative reviewers have been storing it loose in a kitchen drawer?

The other negative comment I'd like to address is about the foil cutter. Admittedly, the instructions on the box leave something to be desired, but if you're using the foil cutter the right way, it should rip the foil right off the lip of the bottle.

It seems to me that all those negative comments about little plastic pieces coming off and screws not going through the cork and not being able to find the "sweet spot" are really about not using the product in the way that's intended. If you're using it right, the cork comes out in about 3 seconds flat.I REALLY love this corkscrew!

 "broken." 2009-08-24
By P. Fino (Centerville, OH)
I was given this corkscrew for Christmas. I loved it!!!!! ..until it broke after less than 3 months. And there is no information about a warranty or replacement. ...Bummed. I think there are better bangs for your buck out there.

 "Great opener, good price" 2009-08-13
By Ralfoide (CA)
This is a really good "rabbit" like wine opener. If you've never used one, you'll be impressed the first time you use it. Not only is it faster but it is also more reliable and it's hard to break a cork with such an opener, even an old cork. That's a gift that will keep on being appreciated.

Price is really good and quality is on par. I generally use it once a week and I have no problem with the corkscrew. The screw itself is replaceable and I have yet to use the replacement after several years of use. The foil cutter broke after several months, but that can be easily replaced -- or just use a knife to remove the foil, as it is customary to do.

 "Long In The Tooth" 2009-07-24
By Mary (California)
This is a sturdy but awkward opener. I've used plenty of lever type openers and something about this one is off. But that is not my main complaint. The problem I find with this opener is that the actual screw is too long and extends through every cork I use it on. If it's a faux material there is no problem. But with real cork it causes bits to crumble into the wine.

If the lever is not fully articulated there is no issue, but I think most people would not be able to find the sweet spot where the screw does not break through.

The foil cutter is useless, again not the main complaint. Just don't be tempted by this product because it comes with an accessory. And a lot of the time you don't need a foil cutter on many wine bottles because a good percentage of foil can simply be pulled right off the top. Maybe it's a no no in the wine world, but I do that at home all the time.

There are plenty of other openers in this price range, I'd recommend you try to purchase a different one if you have a choice.
